The main achievement of this research project was that in response to the lack of existence of a systematization of information about such a big corpus like the Costa Rican narrative infantile production of the second half of the 20th century, it was possible to determine which were the most important themes that this literature has covered, along with the aesthetic currents that it has ventured in. In terms of themes, a connection between them and the necessity of the forming of a critical consciousness on children was made and the following were covered: Cultural diversity, values, necessity for natural resources conservation, questioning of the materialistic society, and consumerism. In terms of predominant aesthetic currents, fantasy and realism were determined as the predominant ones, as well as the presence of elements of the marvelous and science fiction in some literary texts. The last theme studied was in relation to youths literature with the editorial firms, and the Ministry of Culture and Education. It was studied to what extent the connection between these institutions with the production directed towards the youth population favors the market of symbolic goods, which is not related only with the offer and demand of the books, rather it has an effect on the canon and promotion of who publishes youth literature.
